Be Part of the Movement

BLMUK is a grassroots organisation dedicated to eradicating white supremacy, building power for Black communities, and intervening in violence enacted on Black people across the UK and globally. Our work is rooted in the struggle for collective liberation and radical change.

To sustain this vital work, we require a solid operational foundation. We are looking for a meticulous and trustworthy Finance & Operations Officer to own our financial processes. You will be responsible for ensuring our financial integrity, safeguarding our resources, and enabling our cash flow, so our organisers can focus firmly on the frontlines of the movement.

Your Role

Financial Stewardship & Reconciliation

  1. Working with the National Organiser to review financial data and preparing clear financial summary reports for the organising team and our governing board.

  2. Perform regular bank reconciliations, maintaining accurate and transparent financial records.

  3. Understanding and adhering to financial regulations and legislation

  4. Working with the BLMUK Treasurer to establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for our financial reconciliation and governance, ensuring every pound is accounted for and aligned with our values

  5. Preparing balance sheets and process invoices

  6. Manage our sales invoicing to donors and partners, and proactively chase any overdue payments with professionalism and clarity.

Operational Support

  • Help maintain the systems that keep our organisation running smoothly.

  • Provide ad-hoc administrative support to the team, which may include managing vendor relationships or support with reporting.

  • Uphold the highest level of confidentiality and security for all our financial and operational data.

Who You Are

  • Deeply aligned with our mission and understand that sound finance is a critical part of organisational integrity and liberation work.

  • An experienced finance professional with a proven track record of bookkeeping, financial reconciliation, and credit control.

  • Proficient with accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage) and strong with spreadsheets.

  • Highly organised and meticulous, with an exceptional eye for detail and a methodical approach to tasks.

  • A self-starter, able to work independently, manage your own time effectively, and take full ownership of these critical processes without constant supervision.

  • A clear communicator, confident and professional in all interactions, especially when liaising with external contacts regarding payments.

Why Work With Us?

This is critical support work that fuels our movement. You will be our trusted officer monitoring our financial health, ensuring our resources are managed with accuracy and integrity, directly enabling our community organising and campaigns. You’ll receive a competitive freelance rate and the opportunity to contribute your skills to a small, dedicated, and impactful team.

We recognise that one day a week is not nearly enough time for the work at hand. Due to limited funding this is all the organisation can afford at this time. We hope to increase the days with this role as future funding grows. We acknowledge that due to the limited time available the work at hand will progress at a slower pace.

Application Process

Please complete this application form by Sunday 30th November 2025, at 11:59pm.

We value accessibility, please let us know if there are any access needs that you require – please email us at hello [at] ukblm [dot] org. Interview candidates will be informed by Friday 5th December to attend an interview the week commencing 8th December 2025.

The role will start on Monday 5th January 2026.
